I am an introvert. If you’ve been with me for a while, you know that. Which means conferences can be tough–the point is to learn and network and learn from the people you’re networking with. That means talking, being open, not looking like a venomous frog on a slippery rock…
Enter: The Author Lab at the London Book Festival. It was a day put on by the Alliance of Independent Authors, (ALLI) and I had no idea what to expect, but we’re very much at a crossroads and we needed to hear some experts talking about the industry.
I’m so glad I went.
Not only were the panels really good, but there was also the opportunity to sit with an expert from various fields, meaning you got to ask really specific questions. I have pages and pages of notes, and I also got to meet a few other really cool people. I was comfortable and enjoyed the whole experience.
If you’re an indie author, I really recommend joining. They have a ton of resources and are still small enough that you don’t have to run a gamut of people for information. And if you use our affiliate link, it would be a nice bit of thanks to us, too. 😉
Happy writing. Remember, you’re not alone.
