I went for a walk this morning.
That doesn’t seem very interesting, and in the scheme of things, I suppose it isn’t. But it’s my first walk for about three weeks, and though it was slow and filled with coughing and sputtering, it felt magnificent. Daffodils have strong green stems and big buds ready to burst open, birds are singing, and there was a surprising amount of coots and tufted ducks. All of it made me smile through the snot.
We were seaside for a couple weeks and I love walking there, but the weather just didn’t seem interested in me sauntering along the paths, and when the wind was up, Nic was out kitesurfing with me as her launch/video buddy. She’s a lot of fun to watch, and there’s nothing quite like seeing the joy in her face when she comes out of the water. It makes my heart sing.
Then we got back home and I got a chest infection topped with a migraine. That’s it own special kind of hell.
But I felt far better when it came time to the Special Date Night Surprise she had planned.
And that was fabulous. We haven’t been to a concert in a long time, and this one, at the formerly rough but now gentled Rock City, was to see Kezia Gill, a country artist we’ve come to really like. We were right at the front, to the side, which meant no tall person could block my view and I could hold onto the bar whenever I wanted to shift my weight and ease the pressure on my feet… I was going to wear flats, but I just can’t bring myself to let go of the heels, square and booted as they are.
And now, here we are. Monday morning, and this time we’re both coughing and sputtering, probably from something we picked up at the concert. Hooray for crowds! It was worth it, though.
Okay. I’d better get to doing…other things. I don’t know what, really. Hopefully the Lemsip will kick in and ease the brain fuzz. In the meantime, have a great week.
Do you have any plans this week?
